Discovery Glass designed by aMorle
The Discovery Glass is a language development tool/toy that consists of two components, an identification device (the magnifying glass) and QR (Quick Response) Stickers that are bilingually labeled. Once the parent has matched the stickers to the intended articles within the household, the child can take his magnifying glass and discover artifacts through audio feedback. Once the QR stickers are aligned with the camera the object labelled is identified, translated and is delivered through the speakers. There is also a mic that records speech as well. At the end of the day, the glass is placed on a dock that charges the device as well as gives a descriptive path of what the child interacted with for the day, his/her strengths and weakness. This allows the parent to see the progress of the product and assure bilingual satisfaction. The reason for the magnifying glass shape was to fortify the metaphor of “discovery”. By using technology we can incorporate the physical environment to stimulate young children making the Discovery glass a dynamic and engaging product for both parent and child.
